Julie Junor
About

Julie Junor is an educator and leader with over 20 years of experience in schools, both locally and internationally, as well as in the non-profit sector. She holds an MA in Education, specialising in Barriers to Learning and Child Development, and is deeply passionate about creating opportunities for every child to thrive.

Throughout her career, Julie has taught from Grade N to Grade 7, managed and developed school libraries, and designed programs that nurture literacy, critical thinking, and a love of learning. During her time as a senior leader at a WCED school, she helped drive innovative curriculum strategies, coordinated whole-school planning, launched project-based STEAM learning, and mentored interns and new teachers.

Her journey has also extended into the non-profit space, where she worked with a Cape Town–based NGO to run literacy programs and parent workshops, empowering families in under-resourced communities. She has collaborated with regional education networks, from coordinating the Cape Town Librarians’ Interschools Lit Quiz to contributing to Thinking Schools South Africa.

Today, as Director of Unlock Learning SA, Julie brings together her experience, creativity, and commitment to education with the vision of making learning more engaging, inclusive, and impactful—for both learners and educators.
